2012 Final Thoughts

The end of another great Canoe Trip weekend.

We missed the race, but it's not all about the race.

Too tired for huge final thoughts this year.. maybe next.

Laters. Thanks for watching!

Racers

Joined up with some of the people who were in the race that we missed.. Again haha

fideetopera asked a question!

fideetopera asked:
“How did the fish taste? Good catch JJ”
Jamie did catch two catfish, but we didn’t eat either, we just released them back into the river. We were hoping for something other than Catfish. We did have lots of other food to eat though that we brought :). Thanks for following fideetopera!

Our beach!

Kevin asked a question!

Kevin asked: “Hey, are u camped in the same spot as last year? The trees don’t look the same.”
Nope we’re not at the same camp as last year. We actually went around 1 more corner further where Randy and I portaged and Jamie and Ken pushed, shoved, banged out, and pushed through a lot of trees to avoid portaging. One bend before that signature “clothesline”, immediately before “Dieppe”. The fire wood was plentiful and the shelter from wind was quite decent again.

Checklist - CHECK

2012 Sydenham Canoe Trip

its THAT time of year again..
our 2012 Sydenham Canoe Trip will be under way this weekend, with the usual unknown stops, portaging, camping, complete solitude, and becoming one with the river and nature.
Jamie and Kenny has done a complete renovation of their canoe named the “Sydenhammer”..  I haven’t seen the finished product, so I’m excited to see what they have finished with..  They started working on it about one month ago, and sounds like they just put the final coat of paint last night.  Hopefully I can get a before/during/after shots of it.
Kevin and Scott may not be joining us this year, as Kevin has had some tooth aches and had some dentist work going on today. So he might not be in high spirits to take on the challenge this year.
As it stands, the Trip will consist of:
Jamie (4th time) & Kenny (4th time)
Philip (3rd time) & Randy (3rd time)
Weather Forecast (Alvinston Weather Link) (the following is forecast at time of writing this):
 - Friday: High of 23C, Low of 10C, Thunder-showers small %
 - Saturday: High of 8C, Low of 3C, Variable Clouds
 - Sunday: High of 7C, Low of 1C, Sunny
Launching near Rokeby Line, NE of Alvinston.
Packing will start tonight, food is already prepared, snacks bought.  Just need to pack everything up.
MAYBE this year.. we’ll make the race… maybe…
prolly not.
